Features
More compact loader to tractor
The 500M is a more compact loader (compared to the 520M) that is better sized for 5E 3cyl tractor which allows for improved maneuverability in those tight working conditions, such as feeding cattle, movability in and out of barns or mowing along trees.
Lift capacities and lift height are ideally matched to the tractor which makes ballasting easier and overall performance superior for this tractor and loader combination.
One of the biggest improvements to the 500M over the 520M is the reach at ground (also described as how far out the loader extends).
Having a much-improved tractor and loader combination allows the operator to focus more on the jobs being done and less on if will hit something accidently with the loader.
The loader being closer into the tractor gives a more secure feeling to the operator and improves confidence in completing all task.
To help increase customer productivity, the 500M Loader offers three (3) hydraulic connection styles.
- Loader hoses connect directly to tractor mid-valve (no middle connection on loader mounting frame)
- Individual quick couplers mounted on right side loader mounting frame
- Single Point Hydraulic Quick Coupler
Loader hoses connected directly to tractor mid-valve
- This option allows for loader hoses to connect directly to the tractor mid-valve
- Eliminating the connections on the right side mounting frame
- Longer hydraulic hoses are included within the option code (and service bundle) where one end connects directly to the loader lines on boom and other end connect to the tractor connection at edge of battery box.
- This hydraulic offering is for those customers who do not intent to remove there loader very often as well as need to reduce the overall price.

Individual Quick Couplers
The use of individual quick couplers are within the loader base configuration.
When equipped with individual quick couplers, there will be either 4 hoses (for two-function loader) or 6 hoses (three-function loader).
- The loader hoses connect, with use of individual quick couplers to a bracket that is located on right side of loader and connected to the mounting frame
- There is also another set of hoses that are permanently connected from the tractor mid-valve supply to the bottom of connection bracket
- Customers need to lower the loader to ground, turn engine off, rotate loader joystick to remove pressure and then remove or install each individual couplers
Single Point Hydraulic Connection
For improved loader installation and removal process, the single point hydraulic connection system is available.
The process is simplified due to all the hydraulic hoses are isolated to one housing that allows for all connections to be removed / installed at once.
- Consist of tractor half of single point and loader half
- Tractor half stays with tractor and is mounted to right side of loader mounting frame
- Loader half can be removed by releasing connection pin / handle and storing top section with hoses onto loader boom
Parking stands
John Deere loaders are easily removed and reinstalled on tractors without tools. The parking system allows removing or attaching the loader to the tractor in minutes without the need for tools.
Refer to the operator manual for complete step-by-step procedure and specific information.
An abbreviated example is listed below with some images.
To remove the loader
- Raise loader enough to allow for parking stands to be lowered and not contact ground
- Place tractor in park, exit tractor and lower parking stands and lock into position
- Tilt bucket approximately 30 degrees and apply down pressure – this down pressure allows for the parking pins to be removed / installed
- With tractor in park, exit tractor and move parking pins from locked position into open position
- Using loader joystick, adjust hydraulics to allow for loader to rest on parking stands and bucket
- Loader should remain stable on parking stands and bucket while pivoting out of the loader mounting frames
- Once loader is freely positioned, turn tractor off, rotate joystick to release pressure from connection system
- Disconnect loader hydraulic hoses from tractor
Loader raised to allow for parking stands to be lowered and locked into place for parking
Lowering Parking Stands: Parking stand pin is used to secure stand in up position during loader usage as well as lower position when being removed (parked).
With bucket tilted apply slight down pressure to the loader boom.
Place the locking pin into the open position for loader to allow for the loader to be removed (parking pins are designed to stay on the loader; no need to be removed completely

Lift capacities and lift height are ideally matched to the 5E 3cylinder tractor which makes ballasting easier and overall performance superior for this tractor and loader combination.
The 500M loader is capable of handling those primary jobs done related to property care, livestock and material handling.
Having very close lift capacities and lift height as the 520M, this new loader still can stack hay two rows on trailer and 3 rows in barn.
Filling a mixer cart, carrying heavy loads of sand, gravel or pallets of feed will still be performed effortlessly with the 5E 3cyl and 500M.
This size improvement gives the operator more confidence in maneuvering the tractor because of how well the tractor and loader match perfectly.
While the 500M and 520M are very similar in many ways, the 520M does have increased lift height, lift capacity and is designed for more heavy duty applications.
For jobs such as digging, back blading and heavy duty working conditions, the 520M is a better option.
